April 30, 2009 by Entertainment Staff
On June 4, 2009 Avalanche Entertainment & Smith-Barney, http://fa.smithbarney.com/perimetergroup/groupdetail.htm , have joined hands to provide a fundraising benefit with Avalanche's Texas Hold 'Em Poker themed event division. The Avalanche event staff will provide tables, dealers and a tournament director for a 4 hour period. All monies raised will go directly to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The funds come from the ticket purchases as Avalanche Entertainment maintains all legalities with the poker game played with "funny money" and has absolutely no monetary value.
Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections.
