Avalanche Entertainment & the American Cancer Society for six years straight have come together to make the Metro Atlanta "Relay for Life" events a huge success. Each year, Avalanche donates their Disc Jockey services to help benefit such a wonderful event. The Relays are ususally hosted on Friday nights starting at 7pm lasting through the night and ends the next morning at 7am. And there are multiple Relays going on simultaneously throughout the Metrol Atlanta area. So, needless to say the DJ staff at Avalanche has a busy line-up when these Relays are scheduled! "There is a 4 week period where we are tired, but after each event, you feel so good in knowing you are a part of a community with a lot of special people!", says Kirkley Hennessy a Disc Jockey who has attended over thirty Relays in the past few years! With raising over $1MM combined each year, Avalanche is proud to be a part of the American Cancer Society for the upcoming Relays scheduled for 2009!
What is the Relay for Life?
Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length.
Teams of people from all walks of life have fun while raising much-needed funds to fight cancer and raise awareness of cancer prevention and treatment.
Relay For Life is a life-changing event that brings together more than 3.5 million people to:
• Celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer. The strength of survivors inspires others to continue to fight.
• Remember loved ones lost to the disease. At Relay, people who have walked alongside people battling cancer can grieve and find healing.
